Electrocution and burn injuries
Electrical injuries can damage the body in ways that aren't visible at first.

Common causes
- Cranes, ladders or equipment contacting overhead power lines
- Live wiring that should have been shut off and locked out
- Damaged cords and tools without ground-fault protection
- Gas line strikes, explosions and fires
Overhead power lines
Georgia has a law about working near high-voltage lines that requires notice to the utility and safety measures before work within a certain distance. Violations can be important evidence.
Injuries you may not see
Electrical current can damage nerves, muscles and the heart internally. Burns may need grafts and long-term care. Follow up with specialists even if you feel better.
